Fen End, Willingham

This project involved the creation of a contemporary, one and a half storey detached dwelling located within the large garden of our clients existing home.

Brief

Our client wanted to down-size from their large family home, but didn’t want to move away from Willingham where they have lived all of their lives. Luckily their rear garden was an ideal location for a separate dwelling.

Key Challenges and Successes

  • Designing a new dwelling to the rear of the host dwelling in such a way that it did not detract from the original house’s property value, or affect neighbouring properties amenity.
  • We were able to maximise the south facing aspect of the site to ensure each room tracks the sun movement throughout the day.
  • We incorporated a wheelchair accessible shower room and bedroom on the ground floor to cater for our clients potential needs in the future.
  • Careful design of the driveway and external spaces were required in order to ensure adequate access for a fire appliance to meet the building regulations.

"It's amazing, definitely our "dream home".

Thanks to yourself and Gary for designing such a wonderful home for us to live in.

Our home has always been important to us but in these strange times "loving" where you live gives so much pleasure."
