“After meeting Gary in 2019, we told him that we would need a ‘future proof’ bungalow for our son. We told Gary what we wanted and he took all of our requirements on board. Gary and his team got it right the first time so that we didn't have to make any changes.

We were worried about how Jakob would feel transferring from the family home that he had grown up in, but we went to visit the bungalow every couple of days just so that he could get used to the new house before even moving there.

He’s changed drastically since moving in and he is much more comfortable. It has made such a huge difference for him and the family. We were worried about how he was going to cope with change but it has been amazing. He is like a new person since moving and has gained so much confidence and grown in independence which is great to see.

The team listened to us the whole way through and bent over backwards to help with anything that was needed. If we didn’t understand the thought behind some choices, Gary Johns would set up a meeting with the manufacturers to provide ease of mind. We felt as though nothing was too much for them and I don’t think there was anything that they could have done to make the process better.

We were informed of the build’s progress every step of the way and no decisions were made without us knowing. We were in contact with a Gary Johns associate almost everyday and we developed such a brilliant relationship. By the end of the project, they knew what our preferences would be, but of course, they still ran everything by us.

There is so much more room in the new property, which means that Jakob can go off and do his own thing. The snug is close to the main living area so he can go there and be independent while knowing that his family are super close - this was something he didn’t have at the old house, and it has made such a difference to his everyday life. Jakob and his Dad are also extremely excited about having a man cave in the garage in the future.

We were sad to leave the old house after 22 years as there are memories, but the team at Gary Johns and the overall home all made such a difference. There is something about this place that makes us feel really happy and comfortable. Everything was done before we moved in which meant that we could start our lives straight away as a family.

For anybody else going through this process, we would absolutely recommend Gary Johns. They have been brilliant, especially when it comes to creating bespoke houses or homes for people that need help with accessibility. I could not fault the team or the process.”
