We’re delighted to have secured planning consent for a truly special new home – one that will have a lasting impact on a young client with complex physical and medical needs, and their amazing family.
The family recently purchased the site, drawn to its location close to their existing support network. It offers a rare opportunity to create an environment where our client – a permanent wheelchair user – can live with comfort, dignity, and joy, surrounded by the people who care for them most.
From the outset, our brief was about more than just accessibility. It was about creating a home that works beautifully for everyone – a space where the client’s medical needs are seamlessly integrated into a calm, uplifting living environment. Our experience in high-end one-off homes, combined with our understanding of inclusive design, has allowed us to bring sensitivity, practicality and architectural quality together.
The home has been carefully arranged to support care routines while offering moments of real joy – from light-filled living spaces that connect to the garden, to a dedicated therapy room, and carefully considered family areas where time together can be truly enjoyed. The plan ensures privacy and proximity between carers, the client, and family members – something that was essential to get right.
Due to the limitations of the existing house on site, we explored all options and everyone concluded that a new building would not only offer the best solution in terms of space and comfort, but would also be far more efficient to heat and maintain.
This has been a deeply personal and often emotional project – and the planning process itself hasn’t been easy. But we’ve helped navigate the way forward, and now the family can begin to look ahead to a new chapter – one that we hope will be more stable, more joyful, and more empowering for everyone involved.
It’s been a privilege to support them, and we are very grateful that they have shown such faith in us. We are so excited to bring this home to life for them over the coming months.
If you’re a deputy, case manager or therapist supporting a client with similar needs, we’d love to talk.
