Home with therapy room, hydrotherapy pool and sensory garden

So pleased that our first site meeting took place this week on a project we are very proud and privileged to be involved with.

Our client is a wheelchair user and has recently purchased the property with a view to moving in with their immediate family. Our client relies on the support of one person for all aspects of daily living. This support is provided by both their family, and an external care team, who require their own live in accommodation.

The property needs to be extended to provide both a degree of independence for our client, and privacy for the family when the care team are present. In order to address their long term needs our client requires their accommodation to be designed to meet the wheelchair design guide, with many areas requiring ceiling hoisting. Among the spaces required to address their long term needs are a therapy room, hydrotherapy pool and a sensory garden.

As always on our projects we really try to get to know our clients and translate their preferences and tastes into our design. Our client on this project loves Minnie Mouse, and we have been able to incorporate bespoke images into key areas such as their bedroom and hydrotherapy pool.

We will be posting regular updates on progress as the project takes shape on site. We are enjoying working alongside Irwin Mitchell, Emma Shears of OT is Fab, QS and contract administrator David Haynes of Edwards and Haynes Limited, the main contractor TM Browne Ltd and Aquasure who are installing the hydrotherapy pool.
