Exciting times ahead as we prepare to break ground on this meaningful conversion project!
We’ve designed a home for a young child with cerebral palsy, ensuring it will support their needs into early adulthood. With the possibility of reduced mobility over time, the scheme prioritises accessibility—featuring a ground-floor bedroom, an accessible bathroom, and dedicated carer accommodation, all designed to wheelchair design guide standards.
A key challenge has been balancing privacy for the family while integrating space for live-in care, and we’ve worked hard to create a thoughtful layout that respects both.
Outside, we embraced the steeply sloped garden as an opportunity rather than a constraint—incorporating level changes in a way that enhances accessibility. One feature we’re particularly proud of is a roof structure that over-sails the trampoline, making outdoor play even more inclusive.
It’s been a privilege to design with the whole family in mind, and its been a pleasure working with the family, Kelly Boulter of North Star Case Management, Helen Robinson of Phoenix OT, and Craig Knightley of Slater and Gordon Lawyers (UK)
We cant wait to see this project come to life on site.
