We are very excited and proud to see the RAF Witchford Museum building taking shape at Lancaster Way Business Park for our client Grovemere Property Ltd.
The project is designed to give a much more prominent and engaging home to a remarkable collection of RAF Witchford and RAF Mepal artefacts, helping to tell the stories of the airfield, its people and its place in local history.
The building’s form takes direct inspiration from the fuselage of a Lancaster bomber, with the curved steel ribs now making a real impact on site.
Great work by the SIPS supplier and installer Point1 Building Systems Ltd, main contractor Salmons Bros Ltd, and Jack Nicholas Group, who are currently dry fitting the aluminium panels before they are sent off for powder coating.
It has been a privilege to help develop a building that is both functional and memorable — improving visibility for visitors, creating a stronger relationship with the Apex Coffee House, and helping bring this important local collection out from its current hidden location into a purpose-built setting.
Looking forward to seeing the next stages come together, and to the museum opening its doors later in the year.
