New development of houses and flats proposed for a site in Bury St Edmunds

A new development of houses and flats are proposed for a site in Bury St Edmunds. The scheme has been designed to connect with the Victorian conservation area to the north, referencing vernacular materials and details but creating a new and distinctive identity.

The proposals, include ten houses and sixteen apartments with south facing balconies towards a local wildlife site and Linnet Valley beyond. The layout is planned around a variety of public open spaces, including a central neighbourhood square, a glade set around a large horse chestnut tree and a natural children’s play area set within orchard trees. Parking has been integrated as much as possible to remove cars from the streets.

A public consultation has been carried out and documents are now being finalised for full planning submission this summer.
